Welcome to the British Columbia Court of Appeal’s 100th Anniversary Event Website.
The centenary of an institution is an opportunity to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and build foundations for the future. The 100th anniversary of the BC Court of Appeal offers much to celebrate and the Court invites you to be part of this important milestone in our province’s history.
There will be a number of events held around the province throughout the 2010 centenary year. Details will be provided on this website to keep you informed. The focal event commemorating the centenary will occur in Vancouver from April 22-24, 2010. Members of the national appellate judiciary will attend a symposium on April 22 followed by a two-day conference (April 23-24) where they will be joined by members of the legal profession at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue. The Court of Appeal invites the legal community to celebrate its centenary at a gala dinner on Friday, April 23, 2010. The Chief Justice of Canada, the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin P.C., will be the dinner’s keynote speaker.
We encourage you to review the program for the two-day conference and register when it opens on December 1, 2009. Ticket sales for the dinner will also begin on December 1. More information is available on the program and dinner pages of this website. In addition, there are photo galleries capturing both the history and the personalities of the many individuals who have served the BC Court of Appeal. Please see the contact page for event organization information if you have any questions. We hope you enjoy travelling through the Court’s history and celebrating its accomplishments.
